So how do we achieve the dream of a great round of golf. Well we need to start at the diet area first.
If you make a commitment to a diet full of carbohydrates, proteins and fats along with a wealth of water, you can watch your score start to drop! Fast food will not sustain you, just give a quick high and then let you down just as quick.
Things to avoid during the season:
A golfer should avoid caffeine and alcohol. Both of these are diuretics and cause fluid loss. They also both affect performance. Coffee can over stimulate your mind or your muscles, making your performance uncontrolled. Excessive consumption of alcohol severely affects your coordination. Look towards health drinks and natural fruit juices to give you the correct energy to keep you going.
Give yourself time to digest your food. You know that you don’t go swimming on a full stomach, so avoid large amounts of food in the two hours leading up to tee time. Often after a big meal you want to go to sleep and this would mean that on the golf course you will feel lethargic as you digest your meal and this will hinder the muscles from optimum efficiency. A conditioning plan to build your endurance as you play your round
Strengthening your body with correct and useful exercises
A diet plan to give your body a good foundation for the above needs.
All golfers need to build up their strength, flexibility, endurance and diet issues so they can improve.
Strength
The strengthener’s section of the program should address the core area, which means focusing on rotational strength and flexibility. An example would be doing seated twists with a single dumbbell to improve rotational range of motion and strength.
These strengthening exercises can be done in your home and they can increase the benefits for when you go out onto the course to play your game.
Flexibility
Do the exercise that meet you flexibility requirements to help you to improve your golf game. should be specific to your golf swing. Look at all the components of a golf swing and program a fitness plan to maintain the flexibility in your body movements. This can mean the backswing and the downswing parts of the game both need looking at.
Stretch out your arms away from your body
Join left hand to right wrist
Pull with left hand against right wrist and make as big a turn on follow through as possible
Hold for several second and continue several times
General Golf Fitness Conditioning
When conditioning for golf, you’ need got to look at the main activity: walking. You can build up your strength in this area by doing regular walking exercises daily to help strengthen up your body. You do a lot of walking around the golf course and this is needed to give you a chance and not be tiring towards the end of the round.
Diet
Diet is an important part of your regime for golf and you need to pay particular attention to this. It is like a car that needs to have the fuel supply there so that you keep going.
